Zach King video to dissect: Object morph/transform
Overall, Mr. Martin was okay with my storyboard. I can include some of the shots together so I have lesser shots. It is easy for me to shoot because the whole video occurs in only one room, so I wouldn't have to worry so much about lighting changes and such.
Mr. Martin said I can make a digital storyboard so it would be easier to visualise the scenes; and here it is:
I was given the green light to start shooting and so I did a trial/ first shoot.
This is my first draft/shoot:
Feedback:
Mr. Martin suggested that I have a reference of the Mona Lisa before I started drawing, so that the audience knows what I'm trying to draw. Because they don't know what I'm drawing, they might be confused. When I'm searching for the paint, I should just immediately grab it- no need to waste time. Overall the drawing part is too long and could be shortened as the video should only be 30 seconds.
Feedback:
Mr. Razif said that I should make the sounds from scratch (ripping paper, sighing, ambience room sound). Mr. Martin also taught us how to do colour grading for our videos so we have to implement it in this project too.
This is my final project 2!

EXERCISE
Week 1 (17/04/20)
We were shown a few of Zach King's videos and vines, as well as a stop-motion animation. We were then asked to choose a technique from Zach King and dissect it for project 2.
Zach King video to dissect: Object morph/transform
In the video, Zach throws a tomato into a bowl which magically turns into a sauce. I will not be using the same ingredients, however, I will be using the same technique (in the sense that he threw an object and it became something else.
Project 2 story plot: I take a sheet of paper and quickly draw out a smiley face (or an ugly, crude Mona Lisa). I crumple the paper and throw it against the wall, turning it into a real painting. It is still black and white, so I throw paint (tubes) in different colours and they appear in the painting.
Zach King - Plot segmentation
- A flips open a sketchbook
- A draws a smiley face
- A rips out the paper
- A crumples the paper
- A throws it onto the wall
- A takes paint tubes and throws it one by one
- The colours of each paint tube will appear in the painting
Week 5 (15/05/20)
After learning about shot sizes, we had to apply the different shot sizes to our project 2 storyboard.
Feedback:
Mr. Martin suggested that I should have a purpose for drawing, so the audience can understand better as to what I'm doing. Instead of simply drawing, I can try to replicate or copy the Mona Lisa, but is struggling to do so. This will add purpose to the storytelling and makes the story more understandable to the audience.
Updated video dissection and shot sizes:
After getting an approval, I went ahead to draw my storyboard.
