PROJECT
Project 1: Promotional Packaging
(Week 6 - Week 7)
28/09/20 - 05/10/20
For this project, we had to design a new happy meal box with the fun fries packaging as well. The design should include educational information within the design. The theme of the packaging is 'stay safe'. The graphical cues and verbal cues must be visible and clear.
From the theme 'stay safe', I thought about the eating procedures during this recent time. Young children may not be aware of the eating procedures of this covid era so this packaging will hopefully teach them the proper ways.
As per usual, I made a visual moodboard before starting the project. I wanted to go for a doodle style as it suits children and they will find it more appealing/easier to understand.

Mr. Shamsul said we were encouraged to use the official McDonald's characters so I did some research on them.

After showing my first attempt, Mr. Shamsul gave me feedback to make the stroke thinner and to use a standard font for the smaller text.

FEEDBACK
Week 6:
Mr. Shamsul said that my theme is clear and conducted well, however, the strokes are a bit too thick and it might be difficult to read the smaller text. Instead, I can use a standard type for the smaller text, while the headings remain as handwritten.
My first attempt is still considered a prototype of I can still refine it as well as add the necessary logos and symbols (barcode, recycle, logos, etc.)
Week 7:
It looks better now with the thin stroke. I can proceed with making the mockups.
Week 8:
Independent learning week.
Week 9:
We had peer feedback today and so Amelia commented on my packaging. She didn't have much to say but my design suits my theme. Mr. Shamsul said the doodle style looks a bit messy but since that's how I intended it to be then it's okay.
